What was i thinking?
I wanted to make a smash cake for kennedy's first b-day. The cupcake tastes amazing but looks less than stellar. I have to take a cake decorating class because I can make desserts taste good but have to work on presentation!

Tutu Crazy
So i found a yoube video on how to make a no sew tutu and I've gone mad making them. I made Kennedy two costumes and a b-day outfit. The green dress is an empire tutu dress aka Tinkerbell outfit. The red tutu is part of her ladybug costume. Now, the pink one I made but its not Kennedy's b_day outfit. That one i made for an e-friend who's baby is also turning 1 in October. See? I told you I've gone tutu crazy! Im currently making one for our buddy Joey but it's going to require more thought because we want to make it extra special

Sprinkler + Shower Curtain = Baby Water Park
ok, so maybe not a real water park but that's what it probably felt like to Kennedy. I purchased a $9 sprinkler at Ace Hardware.
I could have gotten it cheaper ($4) but I went with a fancy one that had different dials on it. I also happened to have a shower curtain we weren't using anymore:
I laid that sucker out on the grass, set the sprinkler in the middle, and there you have it ladies and gentlemen - a water yard.............................
The thought of her sitting on the grass with icky insects crawling up her baby butt bothered me. The curtain is perfect for creating a barrier against ticks and such. Either way, I thoroughly inspected my munchkin before going back in. You could never be too safe, especially with ticks and fleas camping out in our yard.
We spent about 45 mins outside. The day was just too hot to go walking with the stroller + mommy and baby wanted to keep cool. Kennedy, who usually has tons of separation anxiety bouts, was so entertained by her water yard, she played the last 15 mins all by herself!
::::eeeekkkkkk:::::::
You don't understand, this kid doesn't let me leave her side. When I do have to leave her alone for a moment, crying usually ensues. But not this time! I ran in to get our towels from the sun room and when I peeked out the window - she looked back *once* and kept playing with he sprinkler. Who gives a sh*t about mommy when I got all this fun around me!
Alleluia!!!!! God does listen to prayers!

Lazy Party for Two Please
Ain't these two just adorable? Kennedy went in a milk coma and knocked out right on the floor. She looked so friggin cute and peaceful, I didnt have the heart to move her. About 2 mins later Pincho the pug walked in and decided to join in. Notice how pincho decided to mirror the baby (look at the arms and legs).

Kennedy Talking Gibberish
Ok, so I don't know how to work my camera phone yet. I'm so pissed I took this video in vertical versus horizontal position. Nevertheless, I'm going to post it up anyway.
A word of caution - Kennedy's hair is tore up from the floor up. She looks like a gremlin lol. I'm not going to let daddy do her hair anymore.
Anyway, this is her telling us off before she goes to bed (like she always does)....

Just a vent...
Kevin and I have have become "momma and papa bear". Its weird. Before, we had more patience with self centered, bratty adults. Now, we just kick you to the curb if you require too much attention or high maintenance.
Sorry folks, but we have to save that energy/focus on our kid. Kennedy is our reason for living and breathing. So when we meet someone who doesn't understand that - you're banished from Packler land.
I'll tell you a story. My mom is in her 40's. A very young grandmother. Her and I have had our disagreements through the years and I have my hangups about things she has done. My mom is young, hip, full of energy. She doesn't look a day over 35 and you'll find her usually on South Beach running a 12 minute mile or sipping mojitos on Lincoln Road. As we got older it seemed she wanted to dedicate more time to herself and less to us. Rightfully so, she was done raising her kids.
So when I was pregnant, I wasn't hopeful that she'd be around. Babies are high maintenance and surely my mom wasn't going to dedicate more of her time to my kid. She has enough on her plate.
I was wrong.
My mom has completely filled the shoes of your typical grandmother, but is someone who loves Kennedy with the same fire and passion that I do. My mom loves me. But I think that she loves Kennedy more.
and you know what? I never thought that would bring me so much joy. Love me, hate me - I don't care. Just love my baby. Love my little girl because she is my world.
It brings me peace knowing that if I ever bow out of this world prematurely, there are people who will love her just as much if not more than I do. From the incessant requests to bring her granddaughter over for a visit, to the calls asking to speak to a babbling infant - it is now that I've realized how much my mother has always loved me.
I love you mom. Even though I'm a big girl now (in her 30's) and completely capable of raising my kids on my own - you've shown me that being a mother doesn't stop when your kids turn 18. Thank you for the help, love, and strength you provide. You may not be "needed" but it is so nice to have you there.

Got to meet her great grandmothers!!!
So this Christmas we decided to pack up our bags, left the house uber messy and headed off to Miami! I couldn't stand one more holiday season without my family. First stop on our road trip was a hotel in Georgia. Miss Kennedy hated the car ride and we had to give in 6 hours into our trip. Once we let the lil princess recover, it was off to Sebring, Florida.
Kennedy got to meet her 97 year old great grandmother, Ann Packler:
Ann is always good to us when we visit. She was so excited to see Kennedy. I remember her last year giving away pictures she had collected throughout the years and told us she didn't want to hold on to anymore photographs. Well....... can you believe she is asking for more pics of Kennedy. She can't get enough of ken-ken. While we were there, she fed and burped Kennedy. It was really the highlight of her day. I'll never forget how she kept telling me to let Kennedy wail when she started crying. According to great grandma, the crying help develop the baby's lungs more (te-hee). It was sad when we had to go but we had to make it early into Miami (a 3 hour drive) so Kennedy could see her grandma Lavi (my mom).
Then, it was off to see her other great grandmother - Ligia Arias (my grandmother) :
Overall, it was a fun trip. Kennedy loves being around her big noisy family in Miami. She couldn't get enough her aunts and great uncles who love her so much. By far, it was the best xmas, we've had since we moved to NC. I miss everyone in Miami so much already!
